Enjoyed Dr. Temple Grandin’s keynote remarks and her breakout session at the 8th Annual Back-to-School Autism/Asperger’s Conference in Pasadena today. I was on the Panel of Moms this afternoon.

Moms Panel at Autism/Asperger’s Conference in Pasadena – Sunday, Aug. 11

I’m looking forward to the upcoming 8th Annual Back-to-School Autism/Asperger’s Conference on Aug. 10 and 11, 2013 at the Pasadena Convention Center.


Debora L. Smith, Autism Resource Mom [ARM], will be on the Panel of Moms at the 8th Annual Back-to-School Autism/Asperger’s Conference in Pasadena on Sunday, Aug. 11, 2013.

On Sunday from 1:30 – 3 p.m., I am pleased to be included on the ‘Panel of Moms,’ sharing my personal journey. My fellow-moms are: Cindy Illes-Nelson, a teaching artist and parent of two adult special needs children, one with autism. Cindy will share how her passion for helping others has inspired her to use her skills and training as an artist, educator and behavior specialist to improve other’s lives.

WM Phillips will share her experiences of raising a teenage son with autism and his journey going through a school for special needs children to attending public school in a mainstream classroom.

Rhonda Woods, a special education teacher for the Los Angeles Unified School District. Rhonda will share her experiences of raising two boys with autism as a divorced parent, as well as her expertise in IEPs, LRE, and parental rights.

On Wednesday, April 25, 2012, at 7 p.m. I’ll talk to parents in Anaheim about the importance of visual supports in the lives of children with autism spectrum disorders.  I will share easy, practical ideas for parents and educators, such as using visual prompts, schedules and much more!
